COLORADO SPRINGS, CO- The National Junior College Athletic
Association (NJCAA) recently named Surry Community College baseball
player Chaise Swisher as a 2006 Academic All-American. Swisher was
one of only two baseball players selected from Region X, which
consists of eleven junior and community colleges in North
and South Carolina. Surry also had the
distinction of being one of
only 14 colleges in the nation with both an NJCAA Academic
All-American and an NJCAA All-American. Earlier in June, Surry's
Ryan Petty was selected to the 2nd Team NJCAA

completed his bachelors degree from Appalachian State University,
and is currently pursuing a master's degree with Gardner-Webb
University; while Moser is currently pursuing a bachelors degree at
North Carolina State University. Swisher compiled a .300 average

47-14 record and finished as runner-up in the Region X Tournament.
The 2006 squad finished with a 41-18 record and third place finish
